Lead time varies by time of year. The heaviest demand is typically is March, April, May, and June. Processing equipment (scalders, pluckers, tables, kill cone stands, chill tanks) are manufactured to order. 

As of November 2025, lead time is 2-3 weeks for manufacturing. Shipping time is additional. 

Shipping and fabrication timelines are not guaranteed. We provide our best estimate and work in good faith to fulfill that estimate.

We consider an order to be ready to fabricate when we receive payment in full, unless you’ve made other arrangements.

Parts will typically ship out 2-3 business days after the order is received. Shipping method will be determined by The Bird Nerd, but will typically be USPS Priority Mail or UPS Ground.

All Poultry Man scalders and pluckers include a 1 year parts warranty. This means if a component fails within 1 year of purchase, we will ship you a new component at no charge. 

Motors and gearboxes being replaced under warranty must be returned to Poultry Man within 30 days of receiving the replacement part or you will be charged for the replacement.

No. While we understand everyone has extenuating circumstances, our orders are fulfilled on a first in, first out order. It’s not appropriate to ask that your order be expedited at the expense of another customer. 

Inspect your order for physical damage (crushing, denting, broken pieces, etc) immediately upon receiving the order. If shipped with a carrier, such as Fedex, your order will arrive on a pallet and wrapped. Unwrap the pallet fully to inspect for damage before signing off on the shipment. 

Document the damage with the carrier and with pictures. It’s important to document damage with the freight carrier before you sign for the equipment. Notify orders@thebirdnerd.biz. 

If equipment is severely damaged to the point where you think it will impede operation, document the problem, consult with The Bird Nerd, and refuse the shipment. 

Note: Processing equipment may contain scratches in the metal. That’s normal. 

We sometimes use a private hauler. In these cases, equipment will not ship through a carrier and will not be palletized. 

The Bird Nerd carries hand fabricated products made by small businesses in the USA. Our most prominent brand is Poultry Man, which is made in Pennsylvania. We also carry other fabricators from Florida (Peck Tech).

We prefer check. You can choose to pay by check at checkout. We’ll add your order to the manufacturing queue when you confirm that you mailed the check. 

We accept credit cards, PayPal, including PayPal financing options, check, and wire transfer (contact us for wiring instructions).
