The 48″ uses a motor connected to a gearbox to power the rotation. The gearbox gives provides the strong lift. The rack on the smaller 30″ and 41″ scalders may drift a small amount when stopping; however, the gearbox configuration on the 48″ scalder allows the rack to stop in place (with no drift), and eliminates the need for a brake motor. The 48″ scalder differs from the 30″ and 41″ rotary scalders in two key ways. The larger tank size is obvious. The smaller 30″ and 41″ scalders use a low rpm gear motor and two belts to power the rotating rack.
